Public Liability Insurance for Face Painters

If you're shopping around right now for liability insurance for Entertainment Face Painting and thought I'd share some of my findings-- after all, that's what we do, right?
 
Things I've been told by insurance agents this past week:
 
- "Public liability insurance protects you and your business against the financial risk of being found liable to a third party for death or injury, loss or damage of property or ‘pure economic’ loss resulting from your negligence."
 
- Agents have to go through a specialty company, so don't expect a quote right away.  Some don't carry it at all.  I've had luck so far with a local agency, Nationwide, and Liberty Mutual.
 
- You don't HAVE to have it, but some event (fairs, etc.) REQUIRE that you have liability insurance and that THEIR name be on the policy.  Your insurance provider can create this document for Entertainment Face Painting.
 
- You can buy a "one time event policy" for around $1,000 but a year-long policy is around $500.  Clearly someone has not done their math.
 
- Public liability insurance covers you and one other person.
 
- Limits tend to be 300K, 500K, and a million.  Most events require 500-a million policies.
 
In the end, it's cheaper to be safe in Entertainment Face Painting.  And much smarter-- you have health and auto insurance don't you?
